Kathmandu — The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Nepal has announced the launch of an application campaign for 40 scholarships allocated by the Government of Russia for Nepali citizens for the academic year 2026/2027.
According to the official notice, the scholarships are open for admission into bachelor’s, master’s, and postgraduate research programs at Russian state universities. The list of degree programs and participating universities is available through the official online portal https://education-in-russia.com
The application process for foreign students seeking admission to Russian universities for the 2026/2027 session officially begins on September 15, 2025, and the deadline for applications is January 15, 2026. Interested candidates must register and submit their applications online through the official portal.
The first stage of the competitive selection will be carried out by the Russian House in Kathmandu (Cultural Section of the Russian Embassy), while the final approval of selected candidates will be made by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in coordination with relevant Russian universities.
Speaking about the opportunity, Anastasia Khokhlova, Director of the Russian House in Kathmandu, said,
“Every year, hundreds of Nepali students choose Russia as their destination for higher studies. This scholarship program is a reflection of the strong educational and cultural partnership between Russia and Nepal. We encourage bright and motivated students from all over Nepal to apply and take advantage of world-class education opportunities in Russia.”
The Embassy has encouraged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology of Nepal to disseminate the information widely among Nepali students and educational institutions. The Russian side expressed its readiness to cooperate with Nepali authorities in facilitating the enrollment of potential candidates.
The Embassy of the Russian Federation extended its appreciation to the Government of Nepal and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening educational cooperation between the two nations.
